GASIFIER & ITS APPLICATION

Infrastructure & Manpower

The main constituents of producer gas combustion are carbon monoxide (20-25% by weight. Share), hydrogen (8-10% by weight. Share), methane (2-4% by weight. Share) and small amounts of other gaseous hydrocarbons, among other combustible substances such as carbon dioxide (8-10% by weight. share) and nitrogen (45-55% by weight. share). The usual calorific value of gas is 5.02 MJ/m3 N, which is substantially less in comparison to LPG / CNG. By default, this gas flame temperatures reach over 1000 °C.

Gasification

  • Gas generator, acquired technology GB Gasifired can be used as a source of energy for heat and power (CHP - gas engines designed to burn gas generator).
  • Producer gas can be fed by pipeline from gasification units (which may be located outside the building works) into the furnace, furnaces, etc., located in the building of the plant, and burn it in specially designed burners instead of fossil fuels such as oil / light diesel oil liquefied petroleum gas / compressed natural gas.

Thus it is possible to effectively replace the expensive liquid / gaseous fuel wood low-cost without changes in operation, temperature profiles, with temperature control and cleanliness in the area of business.

Producer Gas Utilization

Division:

  • Power and heat generation (cogeneration)
  • Direct combustion of gas for technological processes

Gas combustion in cogeneration units

  • Conversion to power with high efficiency of about 38-41,5 %, thermal efficiency
of about 45-49 %, ORC modules Green Machine to utilize heat.
  • Performance range from 80 kW to 3 000 kW.
  • Suppliers of cogeneration units: Jenbacher, MWM Deutz, Cummins.

Direct combustion

Utilization of gas for heating Technological demand

  • Reduction of costs for fuels over 50%.
  • Producer gas can be introduced by piping from the gasifier to furnaces/fire chambers, etc. and can be combusted in specially-designed burners instead of fossil fuels (fuel oil / light diesel oil / diesel oil / liquefied petroleum gas / compressed natural gas.
  • Hot water, vapour, technological air heating.

Power Applications

Gas Engine running on 100% producer gas

Producer gas generated by GB Gasifired technology can be used to power producer – gas engines and diesel engines converted for producer gas firing.

The typical requirement of wood/biomass to be gasified to generate 1 unit of power is as shown below

Power 1 kWh
Biomass Required in Kg* 1,15* - 1,5**

* Moisture content < 12%. Calorific value ~3600 kcal/kg, ** max. wood moisture content <40%

Gas Engine running on 100% producer gas

In dual fuel mode of operation, engine modification is confined to a special induction manifold fitted with a gas-air mixer. The pilot injection of diesel amounting to 15-30% of original consumption (approximately equal to the no-load diesel consumption of the engine) is required for ignition, depending on the load. The loss in engine output is normally 20-25% on dual fuel operation.

The diesel engine can revert to 100% diesel operation and 100% capacity immediately on switching off of producer gas supply to the air-gas mixer.

The typical requirement of wood/biomass to be gasified to generate 1 unit of power is as shown below

Power 1 kWh
Biomass Required in Kg* 1,15 +
Diesel Required in Litres < 0.1 Lt

* moisture content < 12%. Calorific value ~3600 kcal/kg

Thermal Applications

The GB Gasifired- Vergassen is a simple and reliable solution for bringing down the fuel cost by over 50%. The GB Gasifired- Vergassen converts wood into a burnable gas (producer-gas) by means of a process known as thermal gasification. The producer gas can be piped from the gasifier (which may be located outside the plant building ) to the ovens/furnaces/etc located in the plant building and burnt in specially designed burners, in place of fossil fuels like F.O/L.D.O/Diesel/LPG/CNG.

Thus expensive liquid/gas fuels can be effectively replaced by low cost wood without any changes in operations, temperature profile, temperature control and cleanliness in the plant area.

The typical requirement of wood/biomass to be gasified to generate 1 unit of power is as shown below

Fuel Diesel 1 litre L.D.O. 1 litre F.O. 1 litre L.P.G. 1 litre
Biomass Required in Kg* 3.5-4.0 3.5-4.0 4-4.5 4.5-5.0
